Mexico Foreign Direct Investment Rose 28% To $12.24B In 1H 2010 Foreign direct investment in Mexico rose 28% in the first half of 2010 from a year earlier to $12.24 billion, boosted by a major acquisition in the beer industry and rebounding U.S. demand for manufactured goods.

Investment coming to Sinaloa Many businessmen in Mexico were cautious when investing due to the economic situation the world experienced in 2008 and 2009; but Rodrigo Valle Hernandez saw no limitations then, quite the opposite, he found the conditions to put his money to work for the future and invested on the consolidation of the four pillars that have strengthened Grupo Tersa. According to Valle Hernandez, Executive President, one of these pillars is the State of Sinaloa, where they are planning to consolidate their tires market.
Grupo Tersa is specialized in the automotive field, in rubber-tires industry, in automobiles distribution and they also have Michelin retreading plant for truck tires (Michelin Retread Technologies).

Mexico wants to attract investment from China Mario Gabriel Budebo, Hydrocarbons Sub-secretary in the Mexican Ministry of Energy, assured he is certain that projects in Mexico with Chinese investment will gradually materialize. During the Infrastructure Conference, Sub-secretary Budebo said that he noticed interest from companies in projects, current ruling framework and growth being experienced by Mexico in several infrastructure sectors. He said that Chinese businessmen have shown interest in the energy and petroleum sectors, concretely with the presence of three very large international companies, such as Sinopec, which has been operating in Mexico for several years now.

2,200 jobs announced for La Laguna region 2 thousand 200 new jobs for La Laguna region in Coahuila with the arrival of new. investments announced without disclosing the names of the companies that have chosen this Region to establish their plants. Antonio Juan Marcos Villarreal, La Laguna Regional Development Sub-secretary, informed that in spite of lack of safety problems, the setback in the country?s competiveness and the fact that an economic rebound is not felt yet, he said there are several investments to be announced soon, which will generate 2 thousand 200 new jobs, of which one thousand 300 will be in Torreon, 200 in Matamoros and the rest will be generated by an investment for which a site has not been decided yet, it could be San Pedro or Francisco I. Madero. He pointed-out that the largest investment will be made in Torreon and is from the automotive sector.

Nestlé invests MXP$6 million in cheese plant in Michoacan Nestlé contributed with MXP$6 million to a Nano-filtration plant to produce cheese in Michoacan, which required a total investment of MXP$14 million; this was made in a joint venture with the local dairy company Productos Lacteos Flores, Nestlé?s main suppliers at the State of Michoacan.
In a press release Nestlé informed that the plant will have the capacity to concentrate 18,000 liters of serum, which the local dairy company currently produces, in addition to the production by nearby companies of around 120,000 liters of serum per day. Nestlé assures that this technology will help save 400 liters of diesel per day used in the serum transportation, to reduce pollutants to the atmosphere.
Nestlé was established in Mexico 80 years ago, where it has the support of 29 Global Research Centers, 14 factories and 16 distribution centers generating over 6,500 direct jobs.

Mexico Peso Gains to Strongest Level Since June on Earnings, U.S. Stocks Mexico?s peso rose to the strongest level since June as stock-index futures in the U.S. rallied after European banks reported better-than-expected earnings, signaling the economic recovery has not slowed down.
The peso gained 0.5 percent to 12.5830 per dollar at 9:03 a.m. New York time, from 12.6453 on July 30. The currency has gained 4 percent against the U.S. dollar this year, the second- best performer among the 16 major currencies tracked by Bloomberg, after Japan?s yen. The peso reached 12.5366 earlier, the strongest level since June 22.
?The market is in a different place than where we were three or four weeks ago,? said Ramon Cordova, a currency strategist at Base Internacional Casa de Bolsa SA in Monterrey, Mexico. ?There have been good economic data and earnings, and we continue to see a strong correlation between the peso and markets.?
HSBC Holdings Plc, Europe?s largest bank, said pretax profit more than doubled, and BNP Paribas said net income rose 31 percent. Standard & Poor?s 500 Index futures gained 1.4 percent. The U.S. purchases about 80 percent of Mexico?s exports.
The yield on the 10 percent bonds due in 2024 fell two basis points, or 0.02 percentage point, to 6.82 percent, according to Banco Santander SA, the lowest level since the security was issued in 2005. The price of the security rose 0.2 centavo to 129.03 centavos per peso.

It Spaniard Company arrives to Torreon Fernando Felix Aizcorbe confirmed the arrival of the Spaniard Company Itnnovation to this City. Itnnovation is an international company specialized in software development, being their main customers companies such as Microsoft and General Electric, and therefore its arrival provides for a faster detonation of Information Technologies industry.
Aizcorbe, Head of Economic Foster in the City Council, said that the arrival of this IT company in La Laguna Region has been confirmed; the company specializes in developing software for large global companies, but they want to offer their services to companies such as Lala and Peñoles as well.
He said that this industry does not require large investments to establish in any city of the world, but is based on knowledge industry which requires trained human capital. To start with, 15 people will be employed, to end the year with 25. The Company?s 2-year growth plans consider hiring 300 people in La Laguna Region

Cesantoni will create 500 new jobs Coahuila, Mexico,- It is Cesantoni, the floors and ceramic tiles factory, the investment Governor Humberto Moreira Valdes was talking about last Monday. Cesantoni will be installed in Derramadero, generating 500 new jobs for Saltillo and Coahuila Southeastern Region.
A source close to the Governor disclosed the name of the company, which will transfer to Saltillo their plant located in Calero, Zacatecas. This will reinforce ceramics sector in the region, which already has Vitromex and Villeroy & Boch in Saltillo and Ramos Arizpe.

Chinese businessmen want to invest in the State of Mexico Mexico,- Chinese businessmen, interested in making investments related to water and power generation, met at the headquarters of State of Mexico Water Commission Agency with David Korenfeld Federman, State Minister of Water and Public Works, who provided them information about the 130 commitments regarding potable water, sewage and water purification made by the State of Mexico Government.

AMAC announces 7 new companies Chihuahua, Mexico,- Maquiladoras Association, Asociacion de Maquiladoras Asociacion Civil, announced that this year 7 new investments will arrive to Ciudad Juarez, with close to 5 thousand jobs, as a reaction to the rebound in the US economy.
Soledad Maynez Bibriescas, AMAC?s Chairwoman, said that the reactivation in the maquilador sector has expanded to all industrial branches, from automotive to textile.
She said that the economic rebound experienced by the United States in the last few months has been reflected here, with the creation of more than 14 thousand jobs in Ciudad Juarez in the first half of the year, which is very close to the 15 thousand jobs forecasted by the industry early this year. She added that the seven companies mentioned above will arrive to Ciudad Juarez in what is left of the year. She also said that some of the new investments are already making arrangements for buildings construction, something that did not happen since the crisis started.

GKN aerospace has great projects for 2010 Mexicali, Baja California,- As part of the work started in 2009, GKN Aerospace is about to receive NADCAP certification in NDT process (Penetrating Fluids Inspection) next May, they will later continue working to be certified in other processes. ?GKN stands out for performing machining processes on large sized and complex parts made of several alloys, mainly titanium as the most widely used material in our process, but in a near future we will start a transition to a process which is new for us here in Mexicali: composites, which are parts made of fiberglass and carbon and used in airplanes and helicopters, currently manufactured in other GKN parts in Europe and the United States?.
?Another project we have in door is manufacturing some details for Goodrich Aerospace Mexicali, which has started its initial stage; personnel from GKN Aerospace went to Goodrich?s headquarters in Chulavista, CA, to participate as suppliers, providing some ideas so that this project is beneficial for our customer?, Armando Lopez, Quality Assurance and Safety, Hygiene and Environment Manager, assured.
